We live in a world that is filled with more busyness than actual work getting done. Therefore we go through time not accomplishing much of what we really want to do. It is said that the wealthiest place on earth is not the diamond minds in Africa, nor the oil filled lands of the Middle East, but the graveyard. The greatest song that was never written, the invention never created and the big ideas that never left their mind lies within the individuals who died without releasing what was inside. The graveyard is full of people who did nothing to reach their own personal goals while they were still here. These individuals had their potential stored inside, never used and when they died, their gift went with them. What if this happened to you?

What ideas, dreams and visions do you have for a better tomorrow? The gift inside you that you never unwrapped because you feared the possibilities. This life is not for us to just exist, get a job and die. Life was given for us to be productive and give something back to the world we live in. The communities we build, the influence we hold to inspire others. We are here to show ourselves significant and worthy to be alive. The action you do, to live out your purpose is what makes for a great life. With purpose comes goals; with goals comes risk; with risk comes habits; with habits comes practice.

If you’re not willing to risk, you cannot grow. If you cannot grow, you cannot be your best. If you cannot be your best, you cannot be happy. If you cannot be happy, what else is there? – Les Brown

In order to form a habit, it takes practice. Wayne Corderio said “in order to form a good habit, you must go through three stages: awkwardness, mechanical & natural”. The first stage is awkwardness. Just like learning how to ride the bicycle for the first time, it feels really awkward finding your balance while catching the drift. The second stage is mechanical. Once you find your balance on the bike, you’re so happy that you’ve gotten the hang of the concept that you can’t afford to even look elsewhere but straight. Your style is very basic and during this stage, riding your bicycle is very mechanical because during this point you are stamping “how to ride” in your subconscious mind. The last stage is natural. Now that you have gotten use to riding your bicycle around the neighborhood, you are able to freestyle, jump ramps and even pop wheelies all because you have gone through each step in order to get to this point in the game. You are such a natural to the point that even if you put down your bicycle for some time, when you decide to get back onto that bike, your ability to ride never left.

You may want to lose fat; gain healthy weight; hone in a skill; pass a class; enter into a competition; court your future spouse; keep your marriage fresh; conquer your next level; teach the best class. Goals are meant to be reached, accomplished and conquered in order to unlock the next level in your life. Yet you cannot reach them without practice. The majority of people would rather watch other’s make it, while cheering from the side lines for a spark of personal inspiration, but refuse to put in the work to make it happen for themselves. Why would you want to watch from the sidelines oppose to getting in the game?

People claim to be too tired in the morning, too busy to make plans, too board to read a book and even too lazy to eat breakfast. As the day waists away, people tend to become routine with just living an average life. People get set in their ways while keeping to themselves, with no desire to change in order to get to the next level. I often think, that if I could fill my head with the “in – trend ” knowledge of what other famous people make for a living while entertaining us, why don’t I at least do something worth others watching me do something worth funding towards my cause? I began to wonder what my cause was and who would want to see me? Sound familiar? The thought of making it, also brought the thought of fear that encamped in my mind to block me from vision.

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is heProverbs 29:18

A man without a vision for his life, is derailed by the distractions and succumb by the road most traveled. The man with vision, has a clear focus, sees through the bushes of distractions, and travels the road most can’t see. Vision gives way for your purpose to come about in life, but is fueled by consistent practice. Practice on your skill, practice on your ideas, practice on your support, practice on your belief. Keep in mind that seeking for perfection is not an attainable goal. You will not be perfect, but you can be better. Jim Rohn says “Don’t wish for less problems, wish to be better. You don’t need less problems, you simply need more skills“. You will get knocked down, disappointed, and you will fail a lot of times. Yet with all of the obstacles in your way, for you to keep standing develops more skill. Les Brown says” When you’re having a bad day, don’t say “I’m having a bad day” say” I’m having a character building day!” More skill creates more character. The more you work on your skill, the more strong your character is revealed. Character is not built in a day, but practice becomes natural.

  • What things do you have to practice in order to get closer to your next personal goal?
  • Are you just cheer-leading from the sidelines, or are you in the game?

SelahWhatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me–put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:9
